Separate Traffic Stops Lead to Pair of Arrests

–Two separate traffic stops Tuesday morning led to a pair of arrests in Kossuth County. 

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies conducted a traffic stop just before 2AM Tuesday near Armstrong, and after a brief investigation arrested the driver, identified as 50-year-old Matthew Cory Prentice of Algona.  

Prentice was taken into custody on a pair of Kossuth County Warrants, one for a controlled substance violation and the other for possession of a firearm by a felon. He was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance. Online court records show he is due back in Kossuth County District Court on January 27th for a preliminary hearing. 

Around 10:45 AM Tuesday, Deputies conducted a stop in the rural Lone Rock area, and took the driver into custody, identified as 42-year-old Brent Terry Weisbrod of Mason City. Weisbrod is facing charges Interference with Official Acts, along with several traffic related charges like Speeding, Unsafe Passing, Reckless Driving and Driving while Under Suspension. 

Weisbrod was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance. Online court records show he is scheduled to have a non-jury trial in March.
