–As the harvest gets going around the state, the Kossuth County Community Foundations is reminding farmers that they can use that grain to make a charitable contribution. Laurie Everhardt serves as the Director of Development for the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, the parent organization for the Kossuth County Community Foundation, and she says a lot of people don’t think about using grain as a way to give to charity.
Everhardt says if you reach out to them, they can help you through the process of turning grain into a gift.
Everhardt says there can be other benefits to giving a gift of grain, besides assisting the foundation distribute funds to non-profit agencies across the county.
She also says it is something that can become habit forming.
