Area Men Charged with Violating Probation after Recent Arrests

–A pair of area men were taken into custody earlier this week in Kossuth County after allegedly violating their probation.

Online court records show that 35-year-old Bruce Justin Struecker of Algona was arrested in July of 2019 on charges of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury and 1st Degree Harassment. He eventually reached a plea agreement, for which he received a short prison sentence and 5 years of probation.

Media reports from Northwest Iowa indicate Struecker was arrested last month after allegedly assaulting a woman and leaving her inside a locked car, from which she could not get out in the Lyon County town of George,

A bench warrant was issued for Struecker in Kossuth County last week and he turned himself into the sheriff’s office on Tuesday.

29-year-old Bodie Michael Coker of Corwith was taken into custody Tuesday night at a residence in Fenton. He was on probation after pleading guilty to assault and drug charges back in 2020.

Online court records show he was arrested earlier this month and charged with assault, going armed with intent and possession of marijuana. He’ll be arraigned on those charges next week.

He was booked into the Kossuth County Jail on the probation violation charge Tuesday before making an initial court appearance.
