–The Algona City Council approved a change order for the library renovation project at their meeting Monday after the library board had approved the change at a special meeting last week. The interior work has been completed for the renovation project, but the work on the exterior of the building remains to be completed. Library Director Lori Walton addressed the council during a work session prior to their meeting on Monday.
The change order is in the amount of $669,884 with Henkel Construction. Walton says their decision to proceed despite the price increase was made after consulting with the architect of the project.
Once the exterior renovations have been completed, Walton says they can begin work on the parking lot.
Work on the exterior of the building is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022, with work on the parking lot to begin in 2023.
