–A Pub owner in Palo Alto County is facing multiple charges, including several felonies, as part of an ongoing investigation between state and local law enforcement agencies.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies executed a search warrant at Molly Maguire’s Pub near Cylinder Friday around 9:30 AM. While executing the search warrants, Deputies also arrested the pub’s owner, 61-year-old Ronald Dean Smith.
The warrants came as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Department of Revenue and the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.
Smith is facing charges of:
Ongoing Criminal Conduct—Class B Felony
Fraudulent Sales Practice over $10,000—Class C Felony
Sales Tax Evasion—Class D Felony
Felon in Possession of a Firearm—Class D Felony
No Sales Tax Permit—Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of a Controlled Substance—Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia—Simple Misdemeanor
Licensee Supplying Alcohol to a Minor—Simple Misdemeanor
Smith was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail, with a cash only bond set at $50,000 following an initial court appearance.
