Fire Heavily Damages Cozzini Facility

–The cleanup continues after a fire leveled part of the Cozzini manufacturing plant in Algona Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the facility just after 3 PM Thursday, and Algona Fire Chief Mitch Ulrick tells KLGA News they believe it started in a room on the southwest side of the building.

Ulrick says the heat of the fire made it necessary to bring down part of the building.

Ulrick says damage was heaviest in the area where the fire started.

The subzero temperatures didn’t help in putting out the blaze.

Firefighters were on the scene for nearly five hours Thursday night, and have had to return a couple of times to put out some small flare-ups. Ulrick says determining a cause of the blaze would be difficult since that area of the building was completely destroyed.
