Two teens have been charged with murder in connection with the death of an Estherville man who was found alongside a road in rural Emmet County Saturday morning.
According to the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, authorities executed simultaneous search warrants early Wednesday morning at homes in Rockwell City and Estherville.
As a result, authorities arrested 19-year-old Connor Uhde and 18-year-old CeJay Van Der Wilt and charged them first-degree murder.
The body of 20-year-old David McDowell of Estherville was found along a rural road Saturday morning, about 5 miles Northeast of Estherville. A cause of death has not been released.
Uhde was taken to the Emmet County Jail while Van Der Wilt was taken to the Buena Vista County Jail in Storm Lake. Both of the defendants are being held without bond.
