First “1440” Award Handed Out

–A Lu Verne man is the 1st recipient of the “1440 Citizen of the Month” award from the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release, Kossuth County Sheriff Roger Fisher made the award presentation earlier this month to Leroy Weber. Weber was nominated because of his years of service to the City of Lu Verne and the CWL School District. Leroy and his wife Audrey support the local Fire Department, Action Committee, local businesses and school staff. They send flowers to school employees on an annual basis.

Weber wins a set of gift cards to Hy Vee and Casey’s, who sponsor the local award.

Anyone who was nominated for the award will be considered again in July. Sheriff Fisher created the “1440 Citizen of the Month” award to recognize Kossuth County residents who use every second of the day (1440/day) to help make the lives of those around them  a little bit better.

If you know someone who goes above and beyond helping others in Kossuth County, you can submit their name for consideration by emailing Sheriff Roger Fisher at rfisher@kossuthcounty.iowa.gov.
