–Bishop Garrigan clinched the Top of Iowa West title for the 2nd year in a row, completing the season sweep of Forest City. Sophomore Audi Crooks had 18 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Kaylyn Meyers recorded 9 points and 16 rebounds. The Golden Bears overcame a deficit at the end of the first quarter, as they used a 27-2 scoring edge in the 3rd to put the game away and improve to 18-0.

-The Cowgirls used a stifling defensive effort to hold Algona in check all night, especially in the second half, as the Bulldogs could only muster 9 points in the final 16 minutes of the game. Senior Morgan Middleton scored 14 for the Cowgirls, who improved to 15-3 and completed a season sweep of Algona, while Algona fell to 3-14.

–32 minutes of basketball weren’t enough to determine a winner last night, as the Bulldogs used a 13-6 scoring edge in overtime to win their second game in a row. Garrett Goche scored 26 points for Algona, his 3rd game in a row with 20 or more, and Algona rallied from an 8 point deficit going into the fourth quarter. Junior Connor State scored 26 and senior Mateo Martinez had 18 in the loss for the Cowboys. Algona improves to 11-5 with the win and completes the season sweep of the Cowboys, their 8th straight win against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. The Cowboys drop to 8-9.
