–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors approved a mask mandate inside county facilities during their meeting on Tuesday morning. Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Penton addressed the board with regards to the latest proclamation from Governor Kim Reynolds last night.
Penton says the mandate in county facilities is needed.
County Attorney Todd Holmes addressed the group and says the risk of not having a mandate outweighs any possible inconvenience.
Chairman Jack Plathe says he understands the concerns of staff members, but the public has been weighing in on this matter as well.
The board approved the mask mandate in county facilities by a vote of 4-1, with Kyle Stecker voting against. Governor Reynolds proclamation Monday mandates the wearing of masks in state office buildings where social distancing can’t be maintained, but did not include county facilities.
