–The Algona School Board held a brief meeting this morning to approve the second phase of the improvement plan for the district’s outdoor facilities. Superintendent Joe Carter tells KLGA News the board could have waited to approve the project during their December meeting.
The board also set the date and time two different public hearings that will be held during their December meeting. Carter says the first public hearing will cover the requirements of using SAVE Revenue to finance the athletic facility upgrades.
Carter says they hope to award the bid in time for construction to begin next spring.
The Phase II improvements will add a common entrance for the current Football and Baseball fields along with the future softball field site. The common entrance will included new handicap accessible restrooms, something the outdoor facilities currently do not have, as well as a new concessions area. The plan will see a new softball field constructed in the grass area near the baseball field as well as paved walkway to the baseball field and visitors side of the football field. The softball field will be completed in time for the 2022 summer sports season. Check out the design of the project by clicking the link below.
