Two men were taken into custody after gunshots were reported in downtown Algona early Saturday morning.
According to the Algona Police Department, multiple 911 calls came in just before 1am, reporting possible gun shots in the downtown area. Officers also had received a report of a vehicle leaving the scene heading south out of town. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man down near the intersection of Moore and State Street. The man did not have a visible gunshot wound when he was found.
Officers would then locate the car believed to be involved in the incident in a residential area in Algona.
After investigating the area, officers arrested Roger Foy Thompson on charges of possession of a firearm by felons or other persons, reckless use of the firearm, and assault displaying dangerous weapon and a gun was also recovered and is believed to have been used during the incident. 12 hours later, officers would also arrest Brandon Paul Trauger on the charge of going armed with intent.
Both men were taken into custody and transported to Kossuth County Jail and the incident still remains under investigation.
