The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released full brackets for the 2019 boys basketball postseason. Algona, Bishop Garrigan, North Union, and West Bend-Mallard now know the challenges ahead and what lies between them and a trip to the state tournament in Des Moines.

Class 3A – Substate 2
Algona Bulldogs
- Algona is the Substate’s No. 5 seed and will open the postseason against Waverly-Shell Rock in Clear Lake on Monday, Feb. 18th at 6:30 p.m. If Algona wins on Monday, the Bulldogs will then play the winner of Clear Lake (the substate’s No. 1 seed) and Hampton-Dumont. The other teams in this substate are Webster City, Decorah, Charles City, and Iowa Falls-Alden.

Class 1A – District 3
Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears
- Bishop Garrigan is District 3’s No. 1 overall seed and will open its postseason slate on Thursday, Feb. 14th at 8:00 p.m. by hosting the winner of North Union and Northwood-Kensett. The other teams in District 3 are West Hancock, Central Springs, Newman Catholic, Belmond-Klemme, St. Edmond, and North Iowa.

North Union Warriors
- North Union begins its postseason journey in the District 3 play-in game against Northwood-Kensett on Monday, Feb. 11th at 7:00 p.m. in Armstrong. If North Union is to beat Northwood-Kensett, the Warriors will then play the district’s top overall seed, Bishop Garrigan, on Thursday, Feb. 14th at 8:00 p.m. The other teams in District 3 are the same as the teams listed above.

Class 1A – District 16
West Bend-Mallard
- West Bend-Mallard opens its 2019 postseason on Thursday, Feb. 14th at 6:30 with a matchup against IKM-Manning at a neutral site in Newell-Fonda. If the Wolverines win on Thursday, they will play the winner of Newell-Fonda and Paton-Churdan in the second round of the district on Tuesday, Feb. 19th. The other teams is District 16 include the district’s No. 1 seed Sioux Central, St. Mary’s Storm Lake, Glidden-Ralston, River Valley Correctionville and Ridge View.
