–The Kossuth County Genealogical Society is kicking off a fundraiser for the Algona Public Library over Founders Day Weekend. Anita Murphy is the President of the Kossuth County Genealogical Society. She tells KLGA News they have put together a commemorative calendar that details the history of the library and reading clubs in the area.
Murphy says they spent countless hours sifting through over 100 years worth of historical items trying to include as much as possible in the calendar.
Murphy says reading clubs and libraries date back to before the Civil War in Kossuth County.
The calendar costs $15 with all of the proceeds going towards the renovation of the Algona Public Library. The calendar will be on sale throughout the Founder’s Day Weekend and while supplies last a the Algona Public Library, the Algona Chamber of Commerce or through a member of the Genealogical Society.
